In a detailed social media post, Manay Lolit articulated the profound discomfort and sense of helplessness that often accompanies hospital stays, drawing parallels to a feeling of incarceration despite receiving attentive care.
The veteran showbiz columnist, known for her straightforward commentary, conveyed her aversion to hospitalization, stating, “Salve talagang dusa ang hospital. Kung puwede lang talaga na hindi ka mapasok pag meron kang sakit.” (Salve, truly, the hospital is suffering. If only you could avoid being admitted when you're sick.)
She described the physical and emotional toll of continuous monitoring, noting the frequent checks of blood pressure, temperature, and vital signs that disrupt sleep.

“Naku para bang sinasakal ka habang nakahiga ka sa kama, at wala ka halos tulog dahil nga almost every hour kinukunan ka ng blood pressure, temperature at check ng mga vital signs,” she lamented, expressing a feeling of being choked and sleep-deprived.
The columnist articulated a sense of vulnerability and being “at the mercy” of medical professionals.
“Naku ha, iyon feeling na para kang helpless, at the mercy ng doctors at nurses talagang parang defenseless ka,” she wrote, highlighting the loss of control inherent in a patient’s situation.
Despite her usual assertive demeanor, Manay Lolit admitted that her weakened state prevented her from being difficult. “Hay naku hindi mo magawang magtaray dahil nga hinang hina ka. Naku iritable ka pa naman pag meron kang sakit.” (Oh dear, you can't be feisty because you're so weak. Oh, you're usually irritable when you're sick.)
Despite her personal discomfort, the veteran columnist acknowledged the dedication of the hospital staff. She even jokingly referred to herself as “Ms. Amityville” (a reference to the Amityville Horror house, implying a transformation from her usual strong persona) during her confinement, observing the continuous work ethic across various departments, from the Dialysis section onwards, at FEU Hospital.
“Hat’s off talaga ako how they treat their patients,” she commended, expressing her genuine appreciation for the care provided.
However, the overwhelming sense of confinement remained paramount for Manay Lolit. She confided in her close friends, mentioning Salve, Gorgy, PatP, and Tet, that being in a hospital felt akin to being in jail.
“Para bang nasa kulungan ka pag nasa hospital ka. Feeling mo isa kang tao na meron harang sa paligid mo.! Iba ang dating ng hospital,” she described, illustrating a feeling of being walled in.
This profound longing for freedom led her to earnestly plead with her doctors for discharge. “At dahil naloloka ako sa loob ng room ko, talagang on bended knees nag plead ako sa mga doctors ko na pauwiin na ako. Hangga ngayon ayaw pang pumayag ng mga doktor na lumabas ako. Kaya please please, kesa tumakas ako, pauwiin nyo na ako.” (And because I was going crazy inside my room, I truly pleaded on bended knees to my doctors to send me home. Until now, the doctors still don't want to let me out. So please, please, instead of me escaping, just send me home.)
While the specific details of Manay Lolit’s medical condition were not disclosed in her post, her public sharing of this vulnerable experience resonates with many who have faced the challenges of prolonged hospital stays.
Her account underscores the human desire for autonomy and comfort, even in the face of necessary medical treatment, highlighting the psychological impact of confinement within a healthcare setting.
Lolit Solis is a well-known personality in the Philippine showbiz industry. Born on May 20, 1947, in Sampaloc, Manila, she started her career as an entertainment news writer and later became a talent manager and host of television talk shows.
In a previous post, Manay Lolit admitted feeling homesick despite the excellent care she’s receiving at FEU Hospital, saying she feels “suffocated” and misses her home deeply. She praised the hospital staff, calling their service “top of the line,” but admitted the frequent monitoring makes her worry about her condition. Lolit believes she’ll recover better at home, expressing that she will be “happier and stronger” once she’s no longer confined to the hospital. She longs for her daily comforts, especially her dogs, her old bed, and the usual “gulo” at home, ending her post with her trademark humor and warmth.
In another previous post on socmed, Manay Lolit commented on the issue between Albee Benitez and Ivana Alawi, saying it likely upset Albee’s son, Mayor Javi Benitez, who deeply loves his mother. In a now-deleted post, she revealed that Javi is currently going through a tough time in his personal love life, joking that his heart is “under renovation.” Lolit praised Javi as a prime bachelor — financially stable, well-educated, and holding public office — and said many hope he finds the right woman. On Albee and Ivana’s rumored link, she said it’s not shocking given Albee’s status, and joked that showbiz is like a merry-go-round where the cast changes quickly.
